Judy Lee Ellington

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407. Following the service, Judy will be laid to rest at Westminster Gardens Cemetery, 3601 Whitehurst Road, Greensboro, NC 27410. The family will receive friends and loved ones one hour prior to the funeral, from 12:00 until 12:50 p.m., at the funeral home.

Judy was born in Randolph County on May 24, 1946, to the late Robert Harrelson and Thelma Reeder. After high school, she graduated from Brookstone College with top honors. She worked her entire career at Greensboro Gynecology, where she made life-long friends, and retired from there after many years of service. Judy loved spending time with her family, always looking forward to family reunions, where she shared her knowledge of the family’s genealogy. She was a fantastic cook and baker. Prior to her illness, she enjoyed traveling. Many would describe her as kind, giving, smart, strong, stubborn, and funny. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Dunn; grand-dogs, Mackenzie and Belle; and grand-cats, Charlie, Big Cat and Shoppy.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 53 years, Sam Ellington; daughter, Samantha Rhyne (Michael); step-daughter, Tonya Phillips (Kent); sister, Faye Kerr (Bill); half-sister, Loree Reeder (Jeff); grandchildren, Rachel Parsons (Brittany), Sydney Rhyne (Chris), Justin Rhyne, and Makayla Lievens (Grayson); grand-dog, Taco; grand-cat, Hunter; great-grandchildren, Asa Lievens, Atlas Lievens, Zeke Johnson; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends, who she loved dearly.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Hospice of the Piedmont and Hospice Home of High Point, especially to her “Angels on Earth”, Keesha, Hannah, Patricia, Summer, Kenya, and Stephanie.
