Judy Edwina Mitchell

Judy Edwina Hayes Mitchell, born November 12, 1939 passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones. She was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Josephine Newby Hayes.

Judy is survived by her husband, Johnny O’Neill Mitchell, Sr.; brother, Michael Kelly Hayes and wife Katherine Hayes of Lewisville; children, Johnny O’Neill Mitchell, Jr. and wife Christy Mitchell of Greensboro, Christopher Jay Mitchell McFadyen and husband Ben McFadyen of Greensboro, Julie Mitchell McLeod and partner Tim McDaniel of Hurt, VA; six grandchildren, Johnny O’Neill Mitchell III, Spencer Lee Grace, Stephen Douglas Grace, Jeni Alyss Oliver, Meredith O’Neill Mitchell, Jackson Alexander McLeod and seven great grandchildren.

Judy was a strong-minded lady who enjoyed singing many types of songs and cooking for her family and friends. Her favorite time of the year was the celebration of Christmas.

Judy was a member of the last graduating class of Greensboro High School, now Grimsley High School.

Our family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to Clapps Nursing Center in Pleasant Garden. They truly helped all of our family through this time in life and we cannot thank them enough for all of their loving care.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel.
