I’m taking a break from my adventures with Jesus in Heaven to make a quick journal entry about my first big adventure: being on Earth with Mommy and Daddy. This is June by the way (“June Alice Jones” to be exact). I’ve been hanging out undercover for almost a whole year, and on August 23 I got to finally meet everyone face to face. I’d only heard stories but on my birthday I got to see the faces behind the voices of Mommy and Daddy. I got held by every single one of my aunts, uncles, and grandparents; I met my wild Texas cousins; and I even got kisses from my puppy, Pearl.
The year I was here I saw more of the planet than most of you reading this! I’ve been to Boston, Scotland, Northern Michigan, Indiana, Florida, and all over North Carolina. It was in Boston I first realized that I’ve got the toughest, most awesomest Mommy and Daddy in the whole wide world. They took me to rowing school on the Charles River, and we went running, and we went swimming, and we went weight lifting, and we rode all over in Hercules (Daddy’s big truck)– they’re the real deal. In Scotland we saw snow falling on the big green hills and I remember it being chilly for Mom and Dad, although I was all warm and cozy. We were in Michigan for Christmas time and it was so fun finally being in Mimi and Papa’s new house and getting to work out in the mornings after breakfast with Mommy and Aunty Jenny. Mommy was so strong, she wasn’t just teaching me how to lift weights, she was also teaching Jenny and Mimi. After Michigan we got to visit Uncle Danny and Aunt Shannon in Indianapolis (where I got a SO much tasty vegan food) and remember hearing the excitement in everyone’s voices talking about meeting me some day. In Florida Mommy, Mimi, and Aunty Jenny showed me all the animals and I remember how Mommy’s favorite was Avatar Land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. I even got to meet my Great Granddaddy Tom and Great Grand-Mama at a wedding in March!
When we got back home to North Carolina I got to go out to the lake ALL the time and hear Daddy coaching other kids and being encouraging and patient. (Daddy LOVES the water.) I went to work with Mommy every day and got to meet all these really nice ladies at her job. Together Mommy, me, and the nice ladies helped tons of people in the hospital. We sometimes got to go Pops and Jules’ house in the woods where Daddy grew up in Raleigh, and Mommy took me canoeing one time out on the pond. (I’m telling you, we’re really an aquatic bunch.) For Daddy’s birthday we got our puppy, Pearl, who is kind of like my big, hairy sister; you should have heard Daddy’s voice when he introduced us all to Pearl. For Mommy’s birthday we got to go to the beach with Uncle Sean and Aunt Carrie, officially placing in me in every type of body of water (rivers, pools, ponds, lakes, and now an ocean!).
I’ve heard it said while I’ve been here that “God is Love” – and I can promise you that, being so loved, I’ve known God every second of my time here. I want Mommy and Daddy to know that being eternally with God I’ll always be eternally with them in their love of God and in their worship of God. And I especially want Mommy and Daddy to know that when the day comes that they get here, it’ll be my turn to take them on adventures – and adventure we shall.
Love,
June Bug
