Mrs. Kennequa Keke Tyica (Hughes) Gerritsen, born on June 4, 1984 in Columbus, Ohio, to Teresa Hughes and the late Kenneth N Hughes Jr, passed away at age 34 on July 28, 2018 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Kennequa graduated from Brookhaven High School in 2002 and Kaplan University. Kennequa was the beloved wife of Michael Gerritsen. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Daniel Ayers Sr and Felix Long; aunt, Sherry Jones; and uncles, Daniel Ayers Jr and Chuck Long, A host of Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins. Kennequa is survived by her daughter, Gabrielle Gerritsen; brothers, Raymond Hughes, Kenneth Hughes III, and Lamont Hughes; sister, Serena Griffin; and grandmothers, Barbara Ayers and Maxine Long. Keke loved her time playing softball and being in the drill team. She was very famous for her baking and specialty cakes. Kennequa will be missed by her family and all those who knew her. She was a blessing in our lives. Those who wish may donate in Kennequa's name to her husband Michael. Friends and family are welcome to attend the wake on Saturday, August 4 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at The Path Ministries, 510 Seymour Av, Columbus.
