

Kevin was known for his wit and charm and loved to share a joke or story. He was a true maverick, free-spirited thinker, and an avid reader with vast interests, including astronomy, history, and legends.
Kevin worked as a mechanic and machinist and a tile setter. He enjoyed NASCAR and spent a lot of time around the tracks and crews as a younger man. He loved gold-panning and volunteered at Reed Gold Mine in Cabarrus County, North Carolina.
Kevin was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Helms.
He is survived by his siblings; Cynthia Adams (Don) of Greensboro, NC; John Helms (Mary) of Hot Springs, AR; and Kimberly Smith (Scott) of Fairview, NC; Nieces and Nephews include Stephanie Sparks (Doug), Meredith Williams (Keith), Travis Helms, Kelly Landrum (Kyle), and Alexandria Smith. Great nieces and nephews: Bailey Bryan (Alec), Kylie Sparks, Christopher Hamilton, Destiny Clarke (Luis)
Forrest and Mallie Landrum.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Heart Association, St. Jude Hospital, or ASPCA.
A graveside service will be held at a date to be determined.
