Lennie I. Whittemore Jr.

Lennie I. Whittemore, Jr., 73, formerly of Baskerville, VA, passed away on October 18, 2016. He was the son of the late Lennie I. Whittemore, Sr. and Alma Davis Whittemore. Lennie was a graduate of Campbell University. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason as well as a member of the York Rite Shrine.

He spent 42 years in the sales and service of corporate insurance benefits. Thirty of those years were spent with Jefferson-Pilot where he served in different positions throughout the southeast with the last 14 years in Greensboro as Regional Vice President of Marketing. Later he served as an independent contractor with Wells Fargo and also had his own group benefit agency.

He is survived by his loving wife Martha and two sons, Michael of Wilmington, NC and Damon of Brooklyn, NY. Also surviving is his sister, Dorothy Snead of Rocky Mount, NC; one nephew, Paul Snead and his wife Janet of Charlotte, NC.

Lennie loved visiting with his many friends and spending time at his beach condo, playing golf and traveling. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, friend and neighbor.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening, October 21, 2016 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd. A private family graveside service will be held later in Virginia.
