Les was born on March 31, 1943 to Evelyn (nee Margulies) Hermelin. He grew up in Cleveland, OH, was a proud member of the Cleveland Heights High marching band, and attended John Carroll University. Les married his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, Marcia (nee Chestler) in 1966. His career as a Product Manager in the clothing industry began at Campus Sportswear in Cleveland and took him to Greensboro in 1990. While in Cleveland, Les was an active member of Congregation Bethaynu and served as its president from 1989-1990. After retiring from G&K Services several years ago, he enjoyed volunteering for various local organizations and spending time with his family.
Les was an avid fan of movies, playing cards, music, and sports. He loved to travel with family, as well as his lifelong friends from junior high.
Les is survived by his wife, Marcia, his daughters, Julie (Steve Grandis) Hermelin-Higgins and Stacy (John) Hartnett, his grandson Samuel, who lovingly referred to him as Papa, as well as countless friends and extended family.
