

Lloyd was born on August 12, 1930 in Davidson County, the son of Jim Charles and Essie Mae Wrenn Thompson. He worked with Diamond Hill Plywood, retiring as Sales Manager after 37 years of service. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. He was a gifted woodworker who enjoyed creating anything from wood, from custom cabinets to small wooden boats. Lloyd was a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed by all.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn B. Thompson in 1998 and two brothers, John Charles Thompson and Kenneth Lee Thompson. Surviving are his wife , Dorothy Wagoner Thompson; daughter, Melanie Northcote and husband John of Greensboro, NC; son, Eric Elwood Thompson of Burlington, NC; step-daughter, Kim Wagoner-Menius and husband Neil of Mocksville, NC; granddaughter Megan Northcote of Greensboro, NC and sister, Ruth T. Pinyan of Denton, NC.
Services to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, 2:00 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Ellis and Rev. Eric Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
