

Lorena Evans Jefferson, 93, of Midlothian, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 30, 2019. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at Heritage Greens Retirement Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Gilbert and husband (Bill) of Melbourne, Florida and son, Kevin Jefferson and wife (Susan) of Greensboro, North Carolina. One sister, Virginia Bundy, of Memphis, Tennessee; and three grandchildren, Corey Gilbert, Lauren Keeler and Kristen Stout and one great-grandchild, Audrey Stout.
Lorena was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Melvin Walker Jefferson; sisters, Thelma Clardy and Frances Evans; and two brothers, Marvin Evans and Larry Evans.
She was a teacher for 28 years in the Chesterfield County School system with the majority of those years at Midlothian Middle School and Midlothian High School. She is a graduate of Longwood College. Lorena was involved with the Richmond Women’s Club and several Bridge groups. She traveled the world and loved the beach. She was a member of Bon Air United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She will be missed by all of those whose lives she touched.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a graveside service on Saturday, May 4, at 2:00 p.m. at Red House Cemetery in Red House, Virginia.
