Lou became my boss at New Breed in the mid 1990's. He was an excellent leader. I was going through a very difficult time and he always challenged me because he saw something in me I could not see in myself. He entrusted me with things I thought were right out of reach, but I now know that he was continually teaching me to reach higher. He inspired me to read more professional books and to take on roles I would not have chosen for myself. I grew tremendously during that time and it built a foundation for everything I have done since. I can never adequately express my gratitude for his encouragement. He has left a legacy and I know I am only one of many people he impacted in such a positive way.

Lou Saffioti -  I just still can't believe you are not with us any more ! Rest in Peace and know in Heaven we think about you all the time!  You are gone but will never be forgotten !

I just learned of Lou's passing when researching how to reach him tomorrow to wish him a happy birthday.  I worked with Lou at Logo Athletic/Universal Industries in Mattapoisett. He was smart, hard working, and always a pragmatist.  He was a man of integrity and wonderful to work with. He had a great sense of humor.  As I was reading his tribute and read about his laugh, I could hear it again.  My heartfelt condolences to Diane and all of the family.

It is difficult to put into words how much Lou means to me. I don't remember a time that he wasn't in my life. When he married my sister Diane almost 49 years ago, he did not become my brother-in- law because I already considered him to be my brother. 

Lou was just about the best person I have ever known. He was  kind, thoughtful and easygoing.  He was always there for my family, in good times and tough times. Always. 

As we prepare to celebrate Lou's life, we are painfully aware that there is a hole in our family that can't  be filled, but I take comfort in knowing he will always live on in the hearts of so many people. 

Rest easy Lou. I hope you're dancing in the sky. 

Gone too soon-
Though he never knew it Lou played a very important part in my life. He was a mentor in a sense, I wanted to be like Lou. I watched as he elevated his professional career to the highest levels through hard work and perseverance. He would never quit, methodical in everything he did. Lou was my "Consumer Reports" guy, I would wait for him to do his year long research on a TV, then I would buy the same one. A great husband and father who raised three wonderful boys.

I was 10 years old when Lou and Diane started dating and for the next 52 years I looked up to Lou. He would play hockey with me in the drive way for hours and he would laugh as I tried to score, I was the bat boy for his baseball team , he would pick me up on Sunday and we would head to New Haven for the game, he made me feel like I was part of he team.  He taught me to ride his motorcycle in New Hampshire when my feet were still a foot off the ground, chasing me through the dirt lot trying to stop me from falling, laughing the whole time.  Always patient and would do anything for me and my family. I considered him my big brother, I will miss him. My 
memories of Lou and the impact he had on my life will live on forever.

Diane, i am so sad to learn about Louie passing. I remember the good times watching the Yankees games with him and his father. Also remember the night we all went to senior prom. Once again I am having a hard time processing this since we really didn't see each other for such a long period in time. I will always have Louie in my mind and prayers. God bless the both of you.

To my brother,
It has taken a while for me to come to the full realization of your passing. It still seems surreal in many ways. I always admired how you were able to raise a family while working full time and finishing your degree. I was proud to be your brother as you rose to positions of great importance at the companies where you contributed your wisdom and experience, even though I never told you. I marveled at your athletic ability , I still have the trophies . I was shocked when you called  to make me aware of your diagnosis, I still am. You will never be forgotten and I will miss you every minute of whatever time I have left.

My brothers' passing has left a void that will never be filled. Hopefully the  many good and fond memories you have of Lou will be of some comfort. Memories pop in to my mind and I am able to smile for a minute, I can only hope that you enjoy those that cross your waking moments and fill your dreams.

To my brother in-law: Louis you will be missed by many. Especially your wife, three sons, and your older brother Paul. I miss having our Christmas Eve family dinners. You always came into the kitchen to be sure everything was moving along. Smelling the stuffed shells and checking the clam sauce. I enjoyed watching you check to be sure there was a place setting with extra forks. Once I found out you liked extra forks for different foods I never forgot. However, I did enjoy teasing you about it. Lou you have left a huge whole in our family. My hope is with time it will become smaller. I know that family members who have passed before you were there to greet you and stand with you on this new adventure. I will miss you very much

I am so deeply saddened by this news. I grew up with Lou - I was known as Big Lou and he was Little Lou ---My brother (Andy Forte) and cousin Paul (Lou's brother) spent a lot of time together as kids playing horseshoes and baseball at the Burgess St home in East Haven and picking blueberries in the back fields- Lou was the youngest of us three and it's so sad that he is the first to pass on.  It was a sad day when he moved down south but at least we all knew he could return for a visit with his lovely wife Diane.  Now the visits are over from Lou - Those who knew him will have many great memories. Lou was  kind person who with Diane raised three great boys -  He had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all.  Rest in Peace Little Lou.

Diane and family and Paul.     I’ve  known Lou and Paul since their birth.  His mom Gina was my favorite cousin.  I remember Lou playing baseball with his  dad brother and cousins in the back yard.   Lou was always smiling. He was a happy kid.   We spent many holidays together enjoying being with family laughing and sometimes too loud when we disagreed   Lou grew up and married a great woman, Diane and they had 3 sons.  They eventually moved to North Carolina  and we saw Lou from time to time.   I will never forget his  smile and kindness whenever he saw me.  Rest In Peace Lou see you on the other side.  Cousin Fran Reitman. 


Oh Diane. What can anyone say about LOU.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and the Saffioti family. All I have are good memories of him and your family. 
We had some great times living next door.  Know my heart is with you always. Loss brings a void and that empty pit in your stomach. Trust that it will pass over the years. Kim passed 10 years ago and I ache for her always.

We were so heartbroken to hear of Lou's passing.  He was a wonderful man and we will all remember him with a smile.

Lou was a wonderful boss at New Breed and man. I held the upmost respect for him.  He was the hardest worker even learned to speak Marine as well as us, something I could not figure out.  He cared for his employees, helped in every way, great morale builder.  We needed him.  I remember many times he made us feel better with his laughter or smile.  I will not forget him.
