

Mack A. Bridges passed away on January 13, 2011 at his home surrounded by his daughters after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, 2:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Burial with full military rites will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
Mack was born in Catawba County, NC to Ed and Mary Estelle Bridges on May 25, 1933. He retired from the US Postal Service after 28 years of service. He served in the US Army and was a devoted Duke Blue Devils basketball fan. Mack was an outstanding athlete which was evidenced by his being named to the 1954 All-State Basketball team for Brevard College and an all-star baseball player for his US Army Unit.
Mack was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 41 years, Frances Bridges, five brothers, one sister, and one beloved nephew. Surviving are his five daughters: Mary Bridges-Hicks (Bryan), Susie Tucker(Donnie),Mandy Burchette(David), Diane Bridges, Debbie Wells(Sean); his sister, Wynell Yount; his grandchildren; Brett Hicks(Desi),Casey Hicks, Zach Burchette and Brooke Burchette, Kendall Wells, Luke Tucker and great-grandson, Brady Hicks and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hinshaw United Methodist Church, 4501 High Point Road, Greensboro, NC 27407.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
