Mrs. Margaret Blake Payne

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26 at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home N. Elm Chapel. Burial will follow at Westminster Gardens.

Mrs. Payne was a member of Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church and the Christian Women’s Club. She was retired from Burlington Industries. She was also a volunteer for the Woman’s Hospital. She enjoyed needlework, spending time with people and keeping up with current events. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Odessa Williams, Jewel Johnson, Lillian Gallimore and brothers, Kimes Blake and Elwood Blake.

Mrs. Payne is survived by her husband of 62 years, Alvin Ray Payne, daughter, Marilyn Payne of Greensboro, son, Douglas R. Payne and wife, Barbara of Lilburn, GA, sister, Betty McNeill and husband, Sam of Candor, brothers, Senator Harris Blake of Pinehurst, Waylon Blake and wife, Pina of Columbia, SC, grandchildren; Brandi, Amanda, Lydia and great-grandchildren; Tristen, Payton and Lyla.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
