

Greensboro, NC: Margaret Ellen Huff Pickett 99, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012.peacefully at her daughter's home in Greensboro, NC.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 14, 2012at the East Bend United Methodist Church on Main Street in East Bend. Burial will follow in the East Bend Baptist Church Cemetery. An informal visitation will follow the burial at the Methodist Church.
Born in East Bend, NC May 9, 1912, and the first of five children she was born to the late Calla Blanche Martin and Charlie Burton Huff. Margaret graduated from East Carolina Teacher's College (now East Carolina University) and Catawba College. She taught school for 36 years first in Warsaw, NC, then in Jonesville, NC and then in East Bend. She had a lifelong passion for her family, her church, community and for traveling.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years, Frank Pickett; and her three brothers and their wives, Charlie Burton, Jr. (Doris), John Martin (Nannie), and Richard Kent, Sr. (Jessie) Huff.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Ellen (Marti) Pickett Jeffreys, her husband, Bryan Jeffreys, her two granddaughters, Margaret-Ellen Jeffreys, Angie Jeffreys; and sister and brother in law, Mary Blanche Huff Beane (Paul). Also surviving are nieces Mary S. Britt, Patricia H. Shelton, and Charlene H. Worthy as well as nephews Richard, Frank and Martin Huff, and Tim, Chuck, Phil and Daniel Beane; and her beloved Lula Brewer and Betty Lennon who have cared for her in the most loving manner possible for the last several years!.
