Marie Isley Cox

Marie Roberson Isley Cox, 87, of Climax passed away at her home on Wednesday October 11, 2023. She was born November 14, 1935 in Guilford County, the daughter of Turner and Effie Parrish Roberson.

Marie graduated from the former Rankin High School and retired from CIBA-GEIGY (now Novartis). She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Marie was married to Glenn Isley for 48 years before his death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

In 2015 Marie married Joseph Cox of the home who survives. Also surviving are her son, Mark Isley and wife Sabrina of Pleasant Garden; one sister, Ruth R. White of Greensboro; one brother, Edward Roberson and wife Catherine of Georgia; three stepsons; five step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren, four nephews, Kenneth (Brenda) Roberson, Michael (Janie) Roberson, Dennis Roberson (Vicki), and Clarence (Margie) Roberson.

Marie was well liked by all and always had a smile on her face. She loved all animals including dogs, cats, and had a collection of frogs but her cat Stitches held a special place in her heart for 16 years. Marie loved to travel. She fostered a sense of community and always made sure that the other ladies in church were taken care of.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday October 21, 2023 at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel officiated by the Reverend Dr. Marvin Patterson and Reverend Charles Trout. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
