Gina Wehe of Greensboro, North Carolina, forever graceful and quietly present, died peacefully in her home surrounded by family, Friday, February 11, 2022. She was a loving wife to Geoff Wehe for 54 years, adoring mom to Jennifer (Lisa), Betsy (Greg), John (Kari), Emily (Brandon), and a doting “Gigi” to Ceara, Jadie Ruth, Naomi, Isaiah, Eden, Joseph, and Hope. Gina will be so dearly missed, she was a wonderful daughter of the late George and Volenna Jones, sister to Mike and Bud Jones, friend to many and a kind and gentle soul.
She kept a home you wanted to be in, filled with love, a delicious meal, and dog hair from her loyal companions - her beloved golden retrievers. Another of her great delights was to gather at the beach where special memories were made. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and porch time with a drink in hand shared with a good friend or family.
Gina loved Christmas when she transformed the family home into a haven. The house was filled with homemade treats, a band of snowmen and a tree as large as the house could hold. Each Christmas Eve, the children were blessed with the long-held tradition of the pajama fairy, who delivered new pajamas under their pillows. She gave us a legacy of love that will carry on for generations.
Gina was a servant by nature and active in the community. She delivered Mobile Meals and greatly enjoyed getting to know the recipients. She was a dedicated member of St. Francis, where she participated in the St. Claire’s Women’s Social Group and Intercessory Prayer Group and volunteered at the church office. She also participated in congregational support programs including Shepard’s Hands and Friends of St. Francis. She was an active and committed attendee at the Lawndale Baptist Women's Bible Study.
Thank you, mom, for your unconditional love, for your steady and your calm. Thank you for always picking up the phone, day in, and day out for us. Thank you for the gift of our siblings and for your best friendship to each of us. Thank you for your commitment to this family and showing us the importance of breaking bread as we did every night around the dinner table, and for passing on time-honored traditions like ‘putting the love’ in the Thanksgiving dressing.
The family will honor Gina in a private family gathering and a Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring, details to be shared at a later date.
