

Martha Jean Everett Cavan, 95, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 5, 2016. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Westminster Gardens Cemetery, 3601 Whitehurst Rd., Greensboro, NC 27410, with Rev. Kelly Groce and Rev. Don Ellis officiating.
Born in Greensboro, NC on August 29, 1921 to the late D. Hugh Everett and Cathleen Huffman Everett, she graduated from Greensboro High School in 1938. She worked for Western Union as a young girl and later was Secretary, Treasurer, and more for Tom’s Peanuts known as Cavan Distributing Company on Battleground Ave. Marth Jean was a charter member of Centenary United Methodist Church on Friendly Ave. She loved her church family, The UMW and The Roach Class. Martha Jean was a member of Gillespie Park Golf Ladies Club and Starmount Forest Country Club Ladies Association, where she loved to play golf, cards, and dining with the ladies. Martha Jean was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star, a charter member of The O’Henry Women’s Club, GWIG Association, a former member of Piedmont Women’s Golf Association, a former member of N.C. Senior Women’s Golf Association and a former volunteer of Wesley Long Hospital for 15 years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Martha Jean loved her family and friends very very much!!! In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hunter Cavan; brothers, Don and Richard Everett; and her sister, Katherine Davis.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Carolyn Cavan Dalton and husband Ronald; her son, Davie Cavan, Jr. and wife Phyllis; grandchildren, Thomas and wife Jennifer, Tammie and husband Harold, Kim Cavan Tucker and her son Hunter who was the love of her life, Kevin Wright and wife Melanie and their son Cody, Bryan Wright and wife Magen and their son Nicholas; her favorite niece, Pat Stevenson; her best friend Helen Farrar; and all her friends at Madison Oaks.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are; Hunter Tucker, Harold Clark, Thomas Stevenson, Thomas Dalton, Kevin Wright, and Bryan Wright.
The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, 2300 West Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC 27403-1108.
