

Marvin T. Lefler, 95, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Beacon Place. Marvin was born on August 1, 1921 in Stanley County, NC, the son of Millard G. and Carrie Mae Thompson Lefler. He served his country in the US Army Air Corp during WW II. Following his military service, Marvin began working in the wood working business. He worked with Old Master Cabinet Company.
Marvin loved his church, Florida Street Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon, and was a member of the Men’s Bible Class. He loved to garden, do wood working in his shop and always enjoyed watching his beloved Tar Heels play ball. He treasured the time he could spend with his family. He will be deeply missed.
Marvin was preceded in death by his loving wife Oleene in 2011, granddaughter, Lauren Dickson and brothers, Bill Lefler and M.E. Lefler. Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Fonda Hilburn (Bill) of Houston, TX, Annette Shumate(Danny) of Greensboro, NC , Vernon Lefler (Louise) of Kernersville, NC ; Lila Jernigan of Greensboro, NC , Durrell Lefler of Colfax, NC and Graham Lefler of Reidsville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, 3:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Burial with full military honors will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Reginia Dodson for the care and concern given to their father for the last plus five years and to all the others that looked after Marvin.
