Mary Etta Ann Gunter Maness

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel, located at 1900 Vanstory St., in Greensboro, with Rev. Russ Reaves officiating. A reception will follow the memorial service.

She was the devoted daughter of the late James Earl Gunter and Vera Stanton Gunter Moore. The supportive sister of Rose Ellen Needham (Lester Floyd), James Earl Gunter, Jr. (Louise), Violet Marie Conner (Ervin), Betty Jean Vaughn (Bill), Jack Fulton Gunter (Veronica), Fern Louise Thorpe, Dewey Stanton Gunter (Barbara), Genevieve “Jenny” Moore Carroll (Jim) and Marie Moore Fletcher (Wesley). She was the adored wife of Roy Stevenson Maness; The proud mother of Stephen Ray Maness (Marilyn), Patricia Kay Maness, Ronnie Lee Maness and David Wayne Maness; The loving grandmother of Michael Stephen Maness (Wendy), Melanie Lauren Maness and Gregory Chandler Maness; and The sweet great-grandmother of Eden Blake-Lea Maness.

Mary Etta enjoyed hosting family festivities, shopping yard sales, strolling Bicentennial Garden and The Farmer’s Market. She toured Europe three times. She treasured her family and home and garden. We will miss Mary Etta’s sense of humor and her strong independent spirit.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:00 noon, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
