Mary "Tootie" Inman Gailey

Mary (Tootie)Inman Gailey, age 94 of Greensboro, NC passed away on February 6, 2025 at Clapp’s Nursing Home in Pleasant Garden, NC. Mary was born on September 29, 1930, the daughter of the late Dave and Maggie Simmons Inman. She graduated from Pilot Mountain High School.

She is survived by her children David Gailey (Deanna) Greensboro NC, Sue Cox (Gary) Burlington, NC, grandchildren; Ashley (Essa) Rizkallah Summerfield, NC Matthew Cox,Wilmington, NC, great grandchildren; Sovee, Aspen Sami Rizkallah Summerfield, NC,sister, Peggy Green of Clemmons, sister in law Sylvia Inman, Pilot Mountain, NC and brother in law Frank Whitaker, Dickson TN. Lisa (Greg) Thompson, Greensboro, NC, Debbie Kramer, Apex, NC and several nieces and nephews.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Odell Gailey, three brothers, Glenn(Bud)Inman, David Inman, Larry Inman, and her sisters; Bonnie Whitaker, Shirley Duncan and Pattie Inman, brothers in law; Harold Duncan and Roger Green.

She worked for Western Electric for 30 years and then went to work for Guilford County School Nutrition/Catering substituting in different elementary school cafeterias.Mrs. Gailey was a lifelong member of Rehobeth Church in Greensboro. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, quilting, golfing, and fixing large family meals. In the summertime you would find her outside working in the garden or her flower beds.

Funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 W Gate City Blvd.,Greensboro NC 27407. Pastors Tim Hunnicutt and Ben Shepherd will be conducting the service. Private Burial will be at Guilford Memorial Park, 6000 W Gate City Blvd.,Greensboro NC 27407.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Clapp’s Nursing Facility for their kind,compassionate care they provided to our mother/grandmother.
