Mary Thompson LeMaster

Mary Charles Thompson LeMaster, affectionately called “Miss Charles” by her siblings, children, and friends, was embraced by the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ March 4, 2023. She was born August 22, 1923 in Morgan County, KY/raised in Bath County to the late Charles H Thompson and Grace W Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband John W LeMaster and son Dr. John P LeMaster DDS.

Mary was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lexington and served over 70 years in many areas - Greeter, Room in the Inn, United Methodist Women, Women Society of Christian Service, Belle Bennett Circle, Emily Creech Circle; she was inducted into the First Saints in 2007. In addition, she was active and held office in many community organizations - PEO Chapter K, Women's Club of Central Kentucky (GFWC), Lexington Bluegrass Council, Investment Club, Project Hope.

Mary was an avid bridge player in various groups. Her favorite partner was her husband John. She loved to travel world wide. She was a member of Cotillion, with her favorite partner John; they were first and last off the dance floor. She learned to swim in her 50’s, modeled in her 70’s, and was always an enthusiastic UK basketball fan!

She is survived by two children, Sherry R LeMaster, Ann (Randy) Williams, a grandson, Ryan Williams who was the “apple of her eye”, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at First United Methodist Church, 200 W High St. Lexington, KY, Saturday, March 11 from 10am-12pm. The service will follow at 12pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Lexington, KY; PEO Chapter K, Lexington, KY, or Hospice of Randolph, Asheboro, NC.
