A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024, 1:00 p.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Alamance Presbyterian Church Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
Sue was born March 31, 1930 in Stokesdale, the daughter of John and Hattie Perguson Parrish.
Sue was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was previously employed at General Electric Credit Corporation for over 10 years. As a former basketball player at Alamance School, Sue continued her love of sports by bowling and golfing. She also enjoyed playing bridge with friends and shopping. She will be remembered for her whimsical way and love of laughter.
In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded by her husbands, Robert L. Jones and L. W. “Bill” Cleveland, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Franklin A. Jones of Greensboro; step daughters, Rose Ann Cleveland of College Park, MD, Lynn Jackson of Brevard and Vannessa Messenheimer of Greensboro; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; 4 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received Friday, September 6, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Chapel.
The family asks with gratitude that memorials in Sue’s name be made to the Children’s Home Society of North Carolina, 604 Meadow St., Greensboro, NC 27405.
