A memorial mass will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 13, at St. Pius the Tenth Catholic Church. Friends will be received from 12:00-2:00 p.m., prior to the service, in The Simmons Center at the church.
Maureen was born December 13, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of George O’Flaherty and Eileen Kennedy O’Flaherty. She attended Guilford College and was a faithful member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She worked with Blue Cross/Blue Shield, ABCO 100 and Group US.
Maureen was very outgoing, had that spontaneous Irish wit and a warm smile. Maureen loved sports, especially the Braves, Panthers and UNC basketball. Coaching soccer, serving as a Girl Scout leader and volunteering for various organizations was evidence of Maureen’s giving spirit and her belief in the importance of mentoring young people. She and husband, Bill, enjoyed traveling together and spending time with their family. They have celebrated fifty wonderful years together.
In addition to her parents, Maureen was preceded in death by her Aunt Margaret “Monny” Kennedy of whom she was particularly fond.
Surviving are her husband, William Schlosser; children, David Schlosser and Tracy Schlosser, both of Greensboro; brother, Gerard O’Flaherty (Linda) of Summerfield; grandchildren, George (Daria Guinn) Schlosser and Hannah (Shelby McVickers) Schlosser; niece and nephew, Andrew and Loren O’Flaherty; and beloved canine companion, Granger.
Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association, 7029 Albert Pick Rd., Suite 200, Greensboro, NC 27409 and to Saint Pius the Tenth Catholic Church Building Fund, 2210 N. Elm St., Greensboro, NC 27408.
