A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., April 23 at Hanes Lineberry, North Elm Street Chapel with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Westminster Gardens Cemetery.
Maxine was born in Tampa, Florida and moved to Greensboro in 1945. She met her husband, Hugh Maness, while taking business classes. They were married in 1950 and were devoted to each other until his death in 2014.
Maxine was a secretary at Jeffreys Engineering for more than 40 years. She was a member of Friendly Avenue Baptist Church. She was an excellent photographer and seamstress. She found many pleasures in coupon shopping.
Maxine was kind hearted, industrious person who loved and was loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents Artie McCoy and Hazelle Burdette Thompson; brothers Glenn and Gene Thompson; and son Howard.
She is survived by son, Alan Maness and his wife Jeanne; daughter, Nina Coffey and her husband Charles; and grandchildren, Haley and Matthew Maness and Dayton and Aimee Coffey.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to Friendly Avenue Baptist Church, 4800 W. Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, or the American Cancer Society.
