Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Hickory Chapel Wesleyan Church, 301 Hickory Chapel Road, High Point, NC 27260. Mr. Witcher will be laid to rest in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery following the funeral services, with Rev. Jeffrey Turcotte and Rev. C. J. Stephens, officiating. The family will receive friends and loved ones at the church, prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.
Born of January 2, 1933, in Guilford County, to the late Eulis M. Witcher and Dorothy Farmer Witcher, he was a 1951 graduate of Jamestown High School. He was employed by Corbin and Dotson Precision Works in Berwyn, Maryland, then in landscaping and construction with E. M. Witcher Landscaping for over 30 years, owned and operated along with his wife, Ruth, Witcher’s Landscaping Service, Inc. for over 30 years. Mr. Witcher was a life-long member of Hickory Chapel Wesleyan Church, served as Sunday School Superintendent. Local Board of Administration, Chairman of Trustees, cemetery caretaker, past President of local and High Point-Thomasville area Wesleyan Men and was Wesleyan's Man of the Year 1999-2000.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 73 years, Ruth White Witcher; sons, Melvin R. Witcher, Jr. (Joy) and Douglas S. Witcher, Sr.; sister, Wanda Myatt (Carl); brother, Dale Witcher (Diane Bilbery); grandchildren, Andy Witcher (Erin), Holly Stephens (Rev. C. J.), Spencer, Christian and Kinsley Witcher; and great-grandchildren, Abby and Noah Stephens and Sam, Charlotte and Henry Witcher.
