Michael Patrick Ahern

Visitation will be from 3:30 to 5 pm this Friday at Hanes-Lineberry, 515 North Elm Street, Greensboro, North Carolina. Memorial service will follow promptly at 5pm and Dr. Brandon Dupont will officiate.

Michael was born on April 8th, 1983 in Dover NJ, son of Margaret Abbott (Murphy) and Patrick A. Ahern III.

Surviving are his daughters Shelby Anne Ahern, 9 and Celeste Nora Ahern, 8 of Knoxville, TN. His mother, Margaret Murphy Abbott, her husband Lane Abbott of Greensboro NC, his father Patrick A. Ahern III and his wife Sheila of Simpsonville, SC. His brother Anthony R. Klebosis, his sisters, Angela, Megan and Maria Klebosis all of Greensboro, NC. His paternal grandparents Patrick and Dar Ahern of Flagler Beach, Fl, an aunt, Stacey Ahern of Bluffton SC an uncle, Patrick Murphy of Lexington NC along with many cousins and friends.

Michael is predeceased by his maternal grandparents Francis M. Murphy and Nora P. Murphy (Byrne) of Avon Park Florida as well as his paternal grandmother, Ellen Anne Ahern of NY and his step-father Anthony J. Klebosis of Greensboro.

Michael moved to Greensboro NC in 1997. He was a graduate of Ragsdale High School and attended ECU in Greenville NC. Michael loved all sports, but was a devout fan of NY Giants football, NY Rangers hockey, NY Knicks basketball as well as Carolina Tar Heel college basketball. Skateboarding was his first true love and he continued skateboarding even after suffering several injuries. Skateboarding brought him joy and a brotherhood like no other thanks to the people he met and skated with.

Michael was most proud of his beautiful daughters, whom he loved very much.

Michael’s dream was to be an Astro-physicist for Nasa, as he had a passion for space and the stars but spent most of his life in the hospitality industry, serving many people throughout the Triad. He is remembered as a kind, highly intelligent, and loyal soul by everyone he touched.
