

Michael Wayne Henry went to be with his heavenly Father on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 after a struggle with congestive heart failure this past year. Mike was born July 28, 1944, in Greensboro, NC. He attended Greensboro Senior High School and served four years as a Military Police in the US Air Force. While in the Air Force, he was on the traveling softball team while stationed in Turkey.Mike enjoyed all sports but he especially enjoyed playing golf.
Mike was a lifelong member of Clifton Road Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and also served as Sunday School Superintendent.
He loved his family and friends deeply and even though he didn’t have much, he was willing to help those who were in need. He always had a smile to share and a kind word about others. He enjoyed spending time and fellowshipping with friends and fellow customers at Country BBQ on Wendover. Mike was one of the best sons, big brother, uncle, cousin, step-father and friend that anyone could ask for.
Mike is preceded in death by his Father, Glenn Henry and Mother, Jewel Henry. He is survived by his family, sister Patricia Murphy of McKinney, TX, brother Richard “Rick” Henry of Greensboro, sister Mary Sue Coen and brother-in-law Jim Coen of Greensboro along with 4 nieces, 2 nephews, 4 great-nieces, 6 great-nephews, 5 great-great nieces and 1 great-great nephew.
Mike’s career after the service, he worked for Beech Nut Baby Food, was the Club Manager at Forest Oaks Country Club, Pest X Exterminating and Intersect Pest Control.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 9th, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield with visitation at 3:00pm and the memorial service at 4:00 pm with Dr. Adrian Harris officiating.
