He was predeceased by his father, Dr Jesse Wiiliam McCracken and mother Betty Martin McCracken. He is survived by his sister Tara Hammond (Chris) and brother Mark McCracken (Mimi), nephews Tyler Hammond (Abigail) and Brandon Hammond (Jaime) and niece Molly McCracken, numerous cousins in Greensboro NC and Pennsylvania.
He is also survived by longtime partner Val Hopkins.
Michael had lasting friendships from childhood and through different employments made friends that lasted years.
Mike was a veteran served in the Army from 1972-1974.
He loved Jet Skis, Jet Boats TR6s and Quadcopters He was also a craftsman and always willing to help friends with their projects technical and otherwise.
He loved the coast, sitting in the sun catching “gammy rays” as he called it.
The family would like to thank VA Hospital, Cone Hospital and Authoracare for his care.
Mike requested no memorials contributions, flowers or formal service. He didn’t want “hoopla” however a remembrance will be planned at later date.
