Myron Elwood Cobb, 86, passed away unexpectedly at Moses Cone Hospital on Monday, April 6, 2015. Services to celebrate his life will be at 3 PM at Peace Lutheran Church on Friday, April 10 with Pastor Chris Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Thursday, April 9 at the church and again following the service in the fellowship hall.
Myron was born in Guilford County to the late Bittle and Daphne Roach Cobb. He was raised in Peace Lutheran Church from birth and has been its caretaker for the past 60 years. Myron has spent his entire life on the family farm tending tobacco. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening and sharing the fruits of his labor with others. Somewhat quiet and introspective Myron was a man of few words preferring to listen more than he spoke. He found value in a slower paced simpler life, preferring to ride his bicycle everywhere and for long distances. It’s reported he even biked to Julian when he was younger to visit his aunt and uncle. He was well known about town as he was often seen pedaling by. Myron had great mechanical skills and could fix just about anything and would persevere with patience until the repair or project was complete.
He leaves behind his three sisters, Mary Doris Cobb and Beverly Cobb Kinney both of Gibsonville and Becky Cobb Yow of Greensboro; nieces and nephews, Joan McMahan and Randy Yow both of Greensboro, Stephen Kinney and wife Kim of Pleasant Garden and Meredith Biddy of Whitsett; great nieces Patrice McMahan, Courtney Kinney and Kristin Kinney; great nephews, Dustin and Bryant Biddy; dear friend and neighbor, Mr. Odell Payne; and faithful feline companion, Midnight.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Peace Lutheran Church, 6105 Frieden Church Road, Gibsonville, NC 27249. Online condolences may be made to www.haneslineberryfuneralhomes.com.
