Nancy S. Arthur, 72, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2011 at Beacon Place.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Gethsemane United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy Ward and Rev. Ken Lyon.

Nancy was born in Greensboro, NC to the late H. A. “Buck” Scott and Lola Cook Scott before leaving to be with her heavenly father, after a wonderful life on this earth.

She attended Proximity Elementary School, Greensboro Senior High School and Summerfield High School to get her education and did not miss a day of school in twelve years. She spent her working years at Blue Bell and the Salvation Army. After retiring she volunteered at Northern Elementary School.

She was a member of Proximity United Methodist Church and Gethsemane United Methodist Church. She was the organist for Gethsemane and Center United Methodist Churches.

Nancy spent countless hours doing community projects and assisting older neighbors by staying with them when it was needed. She would take them to doctor’s appointments and other activities. She truly spent most of her life being a “good Samaritan.”

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband David Arthur (2002); and sister, Alice Kirkman. Nancy is survived by her brother Al Scott (wife Nancy), their children, Julie Bilbrey and husband Kenneth, Susan Bullins and husband Glenn; nephews, Scottie Pinnix, Donald Kirkman, Kim Kirkman and Ricky Kirkman; nieces, Katie Bilbrey, Carolyn Clodfelter, Sheila Gorrell; brother –in-law Garland “Doc” Kirkman and other family and friends..

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Nancy’s life on Wednesday, January 11th, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Hanes Lineberry N. Elm Chapel; and at other times at Nancy Arthur’s home.
