

Naomi Marrus Marks, wife of the late Arnold Marks and daughter of Bertha Stern and Seth Marrus, passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on January 15th. Born and raised in New York City, Naomi was a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She married Arnold in 1950 and made Greensboro her home for over 75 years.
Naomi was a devoted mother to the late Diane (Lawrence) Goodman, Stephen (Sigrid) Marks, and Judy (Robert) Port. She took great joy in her role as a grandmother to Susan Bauer, Arlene Goodman (Jeff Lucher), Mark Goodman (Damien Conrad), Rachael Marks (Andrew Friedman), Seth Marks, Mitchell Port (Megan Dayno), and David (Paige) Port. Naomi was also a proud great-grandmother to Sophie and Drew Bauer, Olivia and Isabel Lucher, and Mackenzie, Evan and Bennett Port.
Naomi was a loving sister to her late brother David (Judi) Marrus and treasured her nephews Michael (Lauren) Marrus and Andrew (Jennifer) Marrus, along with her extended family in Greensboro and across the country.
An active member of Temple Emanuel in Greensboro and the Temple of the High Country in Boone, NC, Naomi generously contributed her time and spirit to her community.
Naomi led a vibrant life filled with diverse hobbies including knitting, book clubs, playing Mahjong, engaging in cultural arts, and traveling. She cherished dining out with family and friends in Greensboro and Sugar Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Emanuel, 1129 Jefferson Road, Greensboro, NC 27410, tegreensboro.org in her memory. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Naomi’s caregivers, Shay, Ashley, and Jamie, for their exceptional support and kindness.
Services will be held at Temple Emanuel on Wednesday January 21st at 11 AM followed by interment at Greensboro Hebrew Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at the home of Mrs. Marks at 5:45PM.
