Barbara,
I recently read about Nick's passing in the last issue of OHIO TODAY magazine.  Nick and I were roommates at Ohio University from 1961 to June 1966 when we both graduated with BSME degrees.

I always admired Nick because he was so bright.  He could always solve a difficult problem, whether it be in Math, Physics, or anything else.  He was also a good friend for five years.

I also remember when we moved to Athens Apartments with his cousin Phil Badalamenti, and two other guys from West Virginia.  Nick knew how to cook, so we did the dishes and cleaned the apartment.  We studied hard because the Engineering curriculum was tough, but we also had fun. We attended sporting events at OU, and I also spent a few weekends in Cleveland at his house.

I have lots of fond memories; you have our deepest sympathy.

Ms. Rini... I cannot remember the last time we saw each other... a very long time ago for me...I was a young boy, but my father and your husband   had a strong bond and a friendship that lasts seemingly a lifetime. I am deeply sorry for the loss of Nick. Even though he and I have not spoken since I was a kid, I feel great sadness writing of him in this time of loss. Please accept my sympathies and know that my prayers are with you and the rest of your family.

Dear Barb, My Deepest Sympathy to you and your family on the loss of someone so Special. You were the best neighbors and friends I had in Willoughby. My only regret is I didn't see Nick when I came to North Carolina. My thoughts and prayers are with you. God Bless and keep in touch.

To Barbara and All Who Made Yesterday's Funeral Service So Special, Neither residual snow nor ice nor widespread power outages could dampen the spirits of all who were blessed to attend the meaningful sendoff that was so well orchestrated for Nick and all who were able to honor his memory.  The entire service and afterglow made for an altogether fitting and proper way enable Nick's spirit to “fly away” until we can, each, take our final flight to glory—as was so beautifully sung by Bonnie and her Dad to conclude the formal Service.  Thanks to ALL for such a great farewell for a life so well-spent.

I send my condolences to the family. I had the great pleasure of working with Nick at Volvo for 13 years. I often remember his meetings were no one set down. Simply meant it would be quick and to the point. My thought and prayers are with you all.

Thinking back to 1966 when you, Nick and I first met at White Trucks, it has been a long and memorable journey. Numerous product inovations,and long hours balanced by clambakes and fun projects.

Nick helped many co-workers and was always fair. He could be counted on to go the extra mile yet not step on any toes. He led by example. If we believe in the hereafter, we have sent a great leader and good friend to a higher place to continue being an inspiration.

You are both in my prayers.

My sympathy to Barb and the family.  Nick was just a great guy.  I was so lucky he hired me to work at Volvo White back in 1983. We had some great times and a lot of fun before I left Volvo in 1995.  I loved his sense of humor and straightforward way of dealing with things.  I have long forgotten the context but his saying “You get what you get” in one of our meetings or lunches together will always stay with me.  Nice obituary but he was a lot more than that.  Again my deepest sympathy.

It is with a heavy heart that I send my condolences.  Nick was a dynamic professional who inspired engagement and facilitated teamwork. He also easily forged personal bonds with his colleagues. I will always cherish the collection of memories from the times when we worked together. Although I was unaware of his illness, and did not meet him during this difficult time, I am confident that many of my peers and colleagues took the opportunity to make sure he recognized the impact he had in their lives.  May he rest in peace.

To Barb and family... Ann and I are very sad about Nick's passing. He was a legendary figure in the best days of White Motor and then Volvo. I so enjoyed having the opportunity to see him after his retirement at our VIC meetings. He will be greatly missed by all of us. May God be with you in this difficult time.

Dear Barb...so sorry to learn of Nick's passing. Enjoyed working with him in the Engineering Dept, White Motor, Cleveland OH.  He will be missed for his wit, sense of humor and great stories.  My thought and prayers to you and your family.
