

McLeansville- Mrs. Notre Blum Thomas, 89, was reunited with her husband, Alfred Thomas and her Lord Jesus Christ, on January 13, 2014. Funeral services will be at 11AM, Thursday, January 16, at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm chapel with Pastor Thomas Brown officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park. Following interment the family will receive friends at Northside Baptist Church. Mrs. Thomas will lie in state at the funeral home from 9:30 AM Thursday until the service.
Mrs. Thomas was born in Guilford County to the late Kelly and Edna Patterson Blum. One of three children she is preceded in death by her brother, Sam Blum and sister, Agnes Shropshire. Mrs. Thomas will be remembered as a sweet and caring woman with a great sense of humor. She was a loving mother who took great pride in keeping her house and raising her children. Her grandchildren will remember fun family get-togethers with her. She has been a long time member of Northside Baptist Church where she enjoyed playing “Bible Go”, loved her Sunday School class and church family. Mrs. Thomas was an avid reader, liked to work word search puzzles and wouldn’t pass up a good piece of chocolate. She was married to Alfred Thomas for thirty nine wonderful years until his passing in 1982. They were a loving couple who truly enjoyed each other’s company.
She is survived by her sons, Johnny J. (Ruth) Thomas of Gibsonville and Larry W. (Joan) Thomas of Greensboro; daughter, Teresa Ridge of Whitsett; grandchildren, Kenneth (Cindy) Thomas, Chris Thomas, Karen Thomas, Dr. Amanda Thomas, Heather Thomas, Eric Snow, and Kendra Ridge; great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Erika, Clayton, and Jacob Thomas; and nephew Roger Blum.
