
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Bayview Cemetery in Morehead City, NC.
Born April 16, 1918 in Swansboro, NC, to the late John and Carrie Canady, Mrs. Hancock was of the Christian faith. She worked as a secretary with the government, worked for the IRS, and then worked as a Real Estate Agent. She volunteered with Hospice at Wesley Long and the Women’s Hospital. She enjoyed gardening and was known as the Begonia Lady in her neighborhood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Donald W. Hancock; her son, James Hancock; and all eight of her brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Ann P. Gibbons; daughter-in-law, Cindy Pruitt; grandchildren, Lindsey Hancock, Christopher R. Gibbons, Lelia Pickard, Renee Scott, and Charlene Wagoner; great grandchildren, Shawnee Gillispie, Luke Pickard, Ashley Banderiamonte, and Eddie Scott; great-great grandchildren, Rachael and Caleb Gillespie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 pm Thursday, September 9, 2010, at Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Street Chapel.
