Patrick Brian Palmer

There will be a visitation on Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, 515 N Elm St, Greensboro, NC 27401. A memorial service will be at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 607 N Greene St, Greensboro, NC 27401 on Thursday, July 12 at 3:30 p.m. There will be a reception in the Haywood Duke Room following the service.

Pat was born on August 4, 1969 and grew up in Rockledge, FL. Pat attended and graduated from Fork Union Military Academy where he was the Valedictorian in 1987. He then attended and graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Textile Engineering in 1991. Pat was an avid Wolfpack fan, an active member of the Wolfpack Club, and attended as many games as he possibly could.

Pat worked for Burlington Industries immediately after graduating from NC State in 1991, and served in several different positions. At the time of his passing, he was the Executive Vice President of Burlington Industries.

Pat actively served the Greensboro community. He was an usher at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, as well as a member of the Newcomers Committee. He also served on the UNCG Advisory Board for the College of Consumer Apparel and Retail Studies. Pat was active in the Greensboro Soccer community and served on the GUSA Board and the Fusion Board. One of his greatest pleasures was watching his children play soccer, a game he loved.

Pat's favorite role was that of being with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband to Barbara and a doting father to their three children, Ben, Drew and Lilly. His favorite activities included family trips to Ponte Vedra, Florida, Turks and Caicos, New York Yankees games, and his annual NFL trip to a different city every year with his sons. He enjoyed time with family and friends cooking out on the grill or going out to dinner. He shared his love of sports with his family. He loved playing golf with family and friends, and he loved coaching his and many children in soccer. He also loved being on the ocean fishing, swimming and boating while growing up in Florida. He was comfortable on the water. Pat enjoyed attending soccer games, baseball games, basketball games, playing practical jokes on family and friends like slinging water balloons with his children at the beach, spraying his neighbors with the water hose, and sending funny gifts to his nieces and nephews at camp. Pat just loved to laugh. He was full of energy, passion and lived every moment of his life to the fullest. His enthusiasm and zest for life was contagious and infectious, and his mission was for everyone to enjoy every moment together. His booming voice and aggressive zeal made him a leader of whatever group he was with, and he will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bryant Palmer, a son-William Benjamin Palmer-14, a son-Richard Andrew Palmer-11, and a daughter-Mary Lillian Palmer-8. He is also survived by his mother, Lillian Moseley Palmer of Melbourne Beach, Florida, and his brother Andrew Lee Palmer of Rockledge, Florida. He was predeceased by his father, Dr. Nicholas Lee Palmer, as well as his grandparents, Dr. William Benjamin Moseley and Ruth Brower Moseley.

Pat is also survived by father in law, Douglas Armour Bryant, mother in law, Mary Jane Bryant, sister in law, Robin Bryant Bost and brother in law, William Stuart Bost IV, sister in law, Claire Lashley Bryant and brother in law, Richard Armour Bryant and sister in law, Melissa Mendoza Palmer. Also surviving are Pat's seven nieces and nephews who were extremely special to him and brought him much joy. The family asks that memorial gifts be made to Canterbury School, 5400 Old Lake Jeanette Rd, Greensboro, NC 27455
