

Rita is survived by her brother Jerry Goldstein (Barbara) of Atlanta, GA, her sister, Jane Rosenbloom (Jake, z"l) of Raleigh, NC, her children, Alan Guyes (Deborah Smith) of Roanoke, VA, and Janet Webb of Greensboro, as well as three grandchildren, Eric, Michael and Adam (Julie) and a new great grandchild, Leonard, who was named after her late husband. Rita also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Rita attended Greensboro High School and then graduated from Bryn Mawr College with a degree in art history. She married her childhood friend, Leonard Guyes, z"l and remained a faithful partner in life with him for nearly 62 years.
Rita was a beloved member of her community and was an active member of the Greensboro Garden Council since 1967 and served in multiple positions. Other volunteer roles included election precinct manager, Weatherspoon Museum gift store buyer/manager and she was a member of the Juvenile Detention Board.
Later in life Rita took delight in providing monthly table decorations for the residents of Alpha of the Concord Nursing Home.
Rita was a lifetime member of Temple Emanuel and family and friends are invited to attend the memorial service, which will be held at the historic Temple Emanuel 713 N Greene St, Greensboro, NC 27401 on Tuesday January 23rd at 11:30AM. Burial will follow at the Greensboro Hebrew Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Rita's memory can be made to Habitat for Humanity of Greensboro or Greensboro Beautiful.
