Robert “Rob” Daniel Baker, 22, of Greensboro died on April 15, 2011. He was born September 23, 1988 in Tiffin, OH, the son of Timothy D. Baker and Wendy J. Baker (Likes). He is survived by his precious daughter Emerson Lola Baker of Greensboro and her mother Destanee Baker; his parents of Greensboro; his brother Aaron Baker of Greensboro; his paternal grandparents, Dan and Sue Baker of Gibsonburg, OH; his maternal grandmother, Penny Manahan of Greensboro; his maternal great grandmother, Edna Spurrier of MS and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his step-grandfather, Charles Manahan. Rob also leaves behind Jessica and many very special friends who have loved him and supported him on his journey.
Rob was a bright and charming young man who excelled in sports and in the arts. As a youngster he spent many hours skateboarding with his friends. One of Rob’s true passions was fishing with his dad where he found great peace on the ocean. Rob also enjoyed the outdoors and hiking in the mountains. Often times Rob expressed his desire to live in the mountains where he could escape the stresses of life and focus on God’s beauty through nature Rob had hoped to one day become a tattoo artist and to complete his education to become a counselor for troubled youth. Rob’s journey here was short but his experiences were those beyond his years. He didn’t always have much to give but he still looked for ways to help those he could and to share his experiences, both good and bad, with others.
The biggest joy of Rob’s life was the birth of his daughter, Ema, and he looked forward to a future with her. Ema is the most amazing gift Rob gave his parents and they will cherish her as they cherished him.
There will be a service to celebrate Rob’s life held at 6:30pm on Wednesday at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Rd., Greensboro, NC 27407. The family will also receive friends immediately following the service from 7-8:30.
