

Robert Joel Carter, 65, of Climax, NC, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026, with his loving family by his side. He was born on July 19, 1960, in Danville, VA, to the late Robert Lee Carter and Martha Warren Carter.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Rose, and his sons, Ned Carter of Greensboro and Jordan Carter of Burlington. He is also survived by his sister, Diane Shepherd and her husband Jerry of Danville, VA, and his brother, Keith Carter and his wife Patricia of Browns Summit, and many beloved relatives.
Robert was a graduate of Guilford College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1986. He dedicated many years of his life and his career in the automotive industry, where his commitment and diligence left a lasting impact. He most recently was employed as the General Manager at Avery Body and Trim Shop in Jamestown, where he got to work with his dearest friends for many years.
Robert was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed many trips surf fishing with his sons in the Outer Banks and fly fishing in the North Carolina Mountains. He always said Ocracoke Island in the Outer Banks was Heaven on Earth and is where his ashes will be spread.
A memorial service will be held on January 17, at 11:00am at Hope Church, located at 1606 West Davis St, Burlington, NC 27215, with the family receiving friends before the service at 10:00am.
The family asks with gratitude that memorials in Robert's name be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Robert will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
