Robert was born in Guilford County on May 25, 1928, the son of Roy Lee Monroe and Nina L. Troxler Purcell. He worked and managed Fordham Cleaners for over 60 years. Robert loved the beach and fishing, He looked forward to eating out with family and friends. He truly placed his family first and will be deeply missed.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jean Purcell Gower and Eva Jeanette Bump and one brother, George Wesley Purcell. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 64 years, Willie Mae Barbee Purcell; daughters, Rhonda Carol Harvey of Jamestown, NC, Donna Lynn Hudson and husband David Wesley of Reidsville, NC and Susan Gail Purcell of Greensboro, NC and one grandson, John Robert Harvey of Charlotte, NC.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel from 2:00 p.m. till 2:50 p.m. and Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Guilford Memorial Park.
