Ruth was born on June 2, 1941, in Brooklyn, NY, to Augustine Ganci and Jean Hunt Ganci. On October 13,1962, Ruth married the love of her life, John L. Brenner, Jr. They moved to Punta Gorda, Florida, where Ruth worked for WCCF radio for many years, and later worked in purchasing at Charlotte Regional Medical Center.
To know Ruth was to love her, and she loved so very well. She had a deep, special love for her family, and was a great friend to many. She also loved her cat, Slipper. She was a wonderful cook, and her spaghetti with homemade meatballs was a work of culinary art, as were her pumpkin pies. And, oh, those green bean patties! She enjoyed gardening and had a special affection for hummingbirds and cardinals.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Linda Schatz (Ken), son John Brenner III (Brenda), daughter Christine Brenner, and daughter Jean Smith (Rob). Ruth's grandchildren are Miranda Reynolds (Jarrett), Breanna Cole, Clayton Cole, Gavin Demetreon, Scott Schatz, Ashley Schatz, Amy Griffin, Eric Brenner (Andrea), and Jordan Brenner (Mary-Michael). Her great- grandchildren are Cainan Sapp, Noah Brenner, and Kai Brenner. Also surviving are her brother, Richard Ganci (Pauline), and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, John L. Brenner, Jr., parents, and brother Robert Ganci (Marlene).
Ruth's journey on this earth was one of love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in our family, but she will forever be in our hearts and our memories.
The family will hold a private celebration of her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a contribution in Ruth's name to your local Autism support organization.
