Sam E. Staley Jr.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the Mausoleum Chapel of Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery located on Hwy. 29 North in Greensboro. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Wednesday evening December 14, 2016 at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm St. Chapel and other times family and friends are welcome at the residence.

Sam was in the Navy for seven years during the Vietnam Era. He was an Electronic Technician on the Eversole, Theodore G. Chandler and the US Fox from 1961 to 1968. Sam was a supportive member of Boy Scout Troop 233 as Pack Leader and Troop Master for twelve years. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service Bulk Mail and Rec. Center after 31 years of employment. In addition to Sam’s parents, Sam E. Staley, Sr. and Nola Richardson Staley, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Fox.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 48 years, Janice Staley of the home; children, Lori Truzy (Tim) of Raleigh, Michael Staley (Jennifer) of Greensboro, and Steven Staley (Donna) of Randleman; grandchildren, Melanie Knable, Jeremy Blake, Michelle Staley, Eric Staley, and Rachel Staley; great-granddaughter, Lilliana Knable; siblings, Julia Sharpe (Phillip), Robert Staley (Alice), Ruth Underhill (George), Deborah Whitling (Terry), and brother-in-law Charles Graham.
