

Samuel Chester Stevenson, Jr., 83, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Moses Cone Hospital. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday evening, 6:30 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
Samuel was born in Guilford County on Dec. 4, 1926, the son of Samuel C. and Bessie Ellen Parrish Stevenson, Sr. He served his country in the US Marine Corp.. For years, he helped manage Bob Petty’s Oakwood Drive In. He was an avid recycler before it was popular to” be Green.” His CB handle was “Can Man.” He also worked in the Security field for many years. Samuel was a down to earth man who loved his family and life. He will be deeply missed.
Samuel was preceded in death by his first wife Phyllis; brother, Bobby Stevenson and grandson, Alex Stevenson. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Debbie Dixon Stevenson; children; Chris Carter and husband Joe, Sam Stevenson III and wife Maggie, Kevin Stevenson, all of Greensboro and Audra Ellis and husband Jeff of Randleman, NC.; step-daughters, Darlene Biffle and Donna Clark; grandchildren; Erik and Patrick Gloster, Jeffery Carter, Ben, Greg, and Henry Stevenson, Jakob Stevenson, Ashley, Jesse and James Ellis; step-grandchildren, Madelyn and Holden Biffle.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.
The family will receive friends following the service on Monday evening at Sammy and Maggie Stevenson III home and at other times at the home of Debbie Stevenson and Sammy Stevenson III.
