Sherri Moore Fields, 64, of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Burlington, North Carolina, Sherri was the beloved daughter of Bill and Hettie Moore. She built a life rooted in love, connection, and creativity, becoming the quiet strength and steady presence that held her family together. To know Sherri was to know warmth. She had a way of making people feel seen, welcomed, and at ease, and laughter was never far behind when she was in the room.
Sherri was a devoted wife to Bill Fields and a loving mother to Meagan Elkes of Winston-Salem, NC, and Matthew Fields of Palm Coast, FL. She was a cherished mother-in-law to Justin and Anna, and her most treasured role was being “Mimi” to her grandchildren, Evangeline and Elliott, whom she adored deeply.
She is also survived by her brother, Eric Moore, and his wife, Deanne Moore, along with her beloved nephews. Sherri’s love extended far beyond her immediate family to a wide circle of friends and community who were drawn to her kindness and generous spirit.
A lifelong learner and high achiever, Sherri was collegiately driven and graduated from Elon University in 1983 with dual degrees in English and Journalism—completing her studies in just three years. During her time at Elon, she made history as the first female editor of the university newspaper and was recognized for her academic excellence as a member of Who’s Who Among American College Students.
Sherri dedicated much of her life to education, teaching English and Science and leaving a lasting impact on her students. Many of those she taught went on to become educators themselves, inspired by her passion and her belief in what she called “celebrations of knowledge.” Her influence continues to ripple outward through the lives she shaped.
At the time of her passing, Sherri faithfully served as the Chief Financial Officer of Contractors Service Group, Inc., where her diligence, integrity, and leadership were deeply valued.
Creativity was at the heart of who she was. Sherri found joy in reading, dancing, quilting, sewing and crafts that allowed her to express both her artistry and her care for others. She was a founding member and past President of the High Point Quilt Guild and served as President of the Appliqué Society. Through her work, she not only created beautiful pieces, but also built meaningful connections and lasting friendships.
Above all, Sherri was the stitching that held her family together—steady, loving, and essential. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the lessons she taught, and the love she so freely gave.
Memorial service honoring Sherri’s accomplishments will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 2pm at Covenant Grace Church 4600 Lake Brandt Rd Greensboro, NC 27455 Services will be officiated by Pastor Terry Crahen.
Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel is honored to serve the Fields family.
