Mr. Thomas was born November 19, 1918, in Chatham County, the son of the late Mentor and Annie Thomas. A veteran of WWII, he was also a retired Cone Mills' Revolution plant mechanic. He worked there from 1936 until his retirement in 1981.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years and lifelong sweetheart, Ella Brady Thomas, of the home. He is also survived by nephews and nieces Ronald Southern, Randy Southern, Jerry Southern, William "Junior" Phillips, Mary Wolf, Birdie May Hicks, Andy K. Hicks, Steven Hicks, Randall Brady, and Terry Brady; and sister-in-law Ann Brady.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 2, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry, 515 North Elm St., Greensboro. The funeral will be Monday, January 3 at 11 a.m., at Hanes Lineberry. Burial will be at Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 North O'Henry Blvd., Greensboro.
