Mrs. Thelma Mabe Brooks Kinney

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 24 at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Kinney was a native of Montgomery County and has lived in Greensboro most of her life. She was a member of Guilford Park Presbyterian Church. She has been a resident of Friends Homes Guilford since 2002 and recently transferred to Friends Homes West. Before retiring, Mrs. Kinney was a dental assistant to the late T. Edgar Sikes, Sr. for 18 years and to the late Dr. Carl Wolfe for 5 years.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Egbert “Ed” C. Brooks and V. Carlton Kinney.

Mrs. Kinney is survived by her daughter, Susan Eldridge Vaughn and husband, Bill of Winston-Salem, grandsons, Todd Hollingsworth of La Vernia, TX and LT Brian Hollingsworth and wife, Jennifer of Green Cove Springs, Florida; great-grandchildren, Tiffani, Tauna and Courtney Hollingsworth of TX and Zachary and Rachel Hollingsworth of Florida.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Julie, Kimberly and John of Hospice and to the staffs of Friends Homes Guilford and West for their many kindnesses while Mrs. Kinney was in their care.
