

Mr. Thomas Sawyer Hall, 86, a resident of Greensboro died Thursday September 22, 2011 at Wesley Long Hospital. Mr. Hall was born February 18, 1925 in Anderson, SC, the son of Thomas and Bonnie Connor Hall. Thomas was a graduate of Greensboro High School. He was employed for 37 years with Lucent Technology, formerly Western Electric. A veteran of WW II, he served in the US Army and received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Troy Robbins Sunday School Class. While working at Western-Electric he played on the softball team as well as coached the Little League. He loved to play golf. Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald Hall.
Surviving is his wife of 67 years, Gladys Hill Hall of the home; one son, Byron Hall and wife Susan of Greensboro; one sister, Frances H. Baker of Greensboro; one brothers, Charles Hall and wife Alice of Fayetteville and two grandsons, Michael and Steven Hall.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12 noon at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Russ Reaves. Interment will follow with Military Honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
