

A celebration of her life will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel.
Born in Roanoke, VA, to the late Phillip and Marie Hatcher, Mrs. Rutter was of the Christian faith. She was a loving, loyal, and honest person to a fault. She considered being Mom and Nana, her greatest accomplishments. Toney had that “Auntie Mame” persona about her wherever she went. She loved to travel, most especially to the Netherlands. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Dean Hatcher
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Newton Russell Rutter, Jr. of the home; son, Dale Rutter of California; daughter, Tina Bell of Greensboro; step-children, Newton Rutter, III, of Georgia, Terry Rutter of Georgia, Michael Rutter of Georgia, Tim Rutter of New Jersey, Jeannie O’Connell of New Jersey, Harry Rutter of Pennsylvania, Michelle Carroll of New Jersey, and Chris Rutter of New Jersey; granddaughter, Bobbi “Pook” Bell of Greensboro; brother, Larry Hatcher of Virginia; numerous step-grandchildren; and her five loving and faithful companions, Tinkerbell, Baby Girl, Puppy Love, Rocky, and Ming.
