It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Travis Oakley, who was lovingly escorted to heaven by angels on Monday, April 14, 2025. Born on August 29, 1978, in Greensboro, Travis was the beloved son of Teresa (Terri) Sherrill Oakley and the late David J. Oakley.
Travis was both brilliant and witty, gifted with a sharp mind and a warm sense of humor. A true conversationalist, he had a keen interest in current events and made it a point to stay informed about the goings on in the world around him. His intelligence especially shone through in his work with computers—he had a natural talent for understanding them and was well-versed in repairing them, which he genuinely enjoyed.
Above all, Travis loved his family. He shared an incredibly close bond with his brother, Daniel, who considered Travis not only his brother but his very best friend. That love and connection were mutual and unwavering. Travis also had a special place in his heart for his cats and strays, with whom he shared a bond that was undeniable and full of affection. He even had an uncanny ability to name each one in a way that perfectly suited their personality—some of them included Gary, Bob Whitefoot, Lil Baby, Daps, N00b and others too numerous to count.
His kind and gentle soul was cherished by many and will be deeply missed. Travis is survived by his devoted mother, Teresa (Terri) Oakley; his loving brother, Daniel Oakley; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins who held him dear.
