I met Warren while working for Wachovia Bank back in the 80’s.  He came through the Marketing Department looking for colleagues to accompany him on a 1 hour plane flight out of Winston Salem to keep up his licensure.   I told Warren I had never flown in an airplane and if he needed an extra person, I’d love to fly with him!  He invited me to come along!  My first flight ever!  I lived in Germanton near a school bus garage so Warren used the garage as a guide and we flew over my house!  This was very exciting for me and I remember not wanting the adventure to end when it was time to return to the airport.  Over the years I have reflected many times on my lucky first flight with Warren in a 4 seater.  Sadly, I googled Warren recently to find his obituary.  I will never forget my first airplane ride with Warren Ludlam.  He was a memorable colleague.  Holding his memory and his loved ones close in prayer.

i  have vidos from our times at Blue Grass and from the adventures we had together that I am happy to send to Meredith and her sister. He was so proud of you all!  This is very sad.

Warren and my husband, Alex, were cousins but Warren was more like a brother to both of us.  We cherish our memories with “Cuz,” enjoying a good meal and wine together, sharing old family stories, attending bluegrass events, and jamming together with Warren on mandolin.  We also enjoyed being together at Christmas time, exchanging the annual “Koozball” and other silly items. Warren loved his two girls above all and loved his many friends that he made through work, bluegrass jamming groups, and rotary, including the Angel flight ministry. We thank those at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home and at Stonefield Winery, for making it possible to celebrate Warren’s life together.  We thank God for our times with Warren and will greatly miss his wit, laughter, story-telling, enthusiasm and love. He will live on in the hearts of many whose lives he blessed, just as he did ours. 

Warren was a wonderful friend that was part of our music family through High Lonesome Strings Bluegrass Association and the music events held at Stonefield Cellars Winery. He will be remembered for his loving and kind nature, his enthusiasm for the music, and helping others.

Warren was a longtime friend from the Atlanta days of the Atlanta Marketing Association.  He, John Rosenquist and I were called the Three Musketeers - sharing skills,
 & creative ideas for our clients.  But it went beyond work.  We were true friends, there for each other in good & uncomfortable times.  This friendship continued long after he moved to Greensboro, my hometown.  We talked at least every two weeks about avionics, bluegrass, Angel flight, cats, cures for back pain, and marketing ideas, & his beautiful daughters.  He was so proud of his girls. I am in shock & disbelief, but know he is in God’s bluegrass band picking and grinning, loving his new Home.  My condolences to the family and colleagues.  🙏✝️🇺🇸 Ramona McCary

I only knew Warren for a short time, but it was enough to become fast friends. As everyone said, he was a good man. Funny, generous, warm, and friendly.   Everyone he met, he made a friend of them.  We talked at every gathering about everything from football to aviation to how his girls were doing. He will be sorely missed.  As much as it pains me to type this out, I can only imagine the hole it must leave in the family’s hearts. My deepest condolences to you all and thank you for sharing him with us.  

I wish the best to Helen, Steve, Natalie and Meredith that God will lift you up during this time and give you his Grace and Love! My friend Warren has no more pain and is with his Heavenly Father! His Spirit will always be with Natalie and Meredith cheering for you from the bleachers. I am forever blessed to have known him as long as I did and consider him to be the best friend one could have! Warren was a dear man, and earnest in his passion for service. I knew him from Rotary, but most recently went with him and my neighbor, Roger Williams, to Stonefield Cellars for a Bluegrass Soup & Sing. It was a magical experience. May you rest in peace, Warren, and may your memory live on in your friends and family. You are and always will be a special soul and will be dearly missed.

Enjoyed speaking with Warren at the Monday night cookouts.  He always beamed with pride talking about his daughters and their accomplishments.  My sincere condolences to all his family and friends.

To Helen, Steve, Meredith and Natalie, we are so sorry we could not be there with you all. Warren was a rare lifetime friend over these last seven decades. But we will see him again.

Warren was a wonderful neighbor. We enjoyed, and spent quite a bit of time, talking about our children and the 'goings on' in the neighborhood. He was a wonderful, kind and sweet man. A true gentleman. I shall miss him dearly.

Meredith and Natalie, I cannot tell you how sorry I am about your dad.  We used to talk once a week to catch up and he always kept me up to date on you two. He was so proud of you. I am in shock.  He was just here in Richmond recently and we had a great visit.
I know you will miss him terribly as will I.

Warren always had a kind word, which translated to action through his work with Rotary and Angel Flights. And he stayed up to date with the locations of  “authentic wood smoked barbeque”!
