A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Boulevard, with Rev. Caroline Franks and Rev. Larry Scott Officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park, 6000 West Gate City Boulevard.
Weldon was born in Harnett Co., NC; son of the late John M. and Lillie Mae Wallace. He graduated from Boone Trail High School. In 1961, he was employed by Piedmont Airlines and retired from US Air in 1993. He was secretary and treasurer for the Wednesday Night Mixed Bowling League. Weldon very much enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid Carolina Tar Heel fan. He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees and as treasurer for many years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by his sisters, Blanchie and Margaret; brothers, Richard, Charlie, Nelson and Thurmond and grandson, Adam Wallace. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley W. Wallace; children, Randall Wallace and wife Pat of High Point, Kim Culberson and husband, Jim of Belews Creek, Michele Hawkes of Burlington; grandchildren, Aaron, Amanda, Andrew, Ethan, Matthew, Jessica, Christopher, Ashley; great grandchildren, Kiersten, Brendan, Addison, Levi, Alyssa, Aria, Jonah; brother, Norman Wallace and wife, Ernestine of Lillington and brothers-in-law, Larry and Ronnie Wilkins both of Lee County. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel and 45 minutes prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
