

William Earle Batson, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on August 23, 2025, at the age of 77. He was born on January 23, 1948, in Greenville, South Carolina, to the late Miles deLeon Batson and Leola Louise Looper Batson. He lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.
William was a proud veteran, having served in the South Carolina National Guard. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1965 and later earned his degree from Flagler College in 1972. On April 27, 1973, Bill married the love of his life, Suzanne Guggenbuehler Batson. Their marriage lasted an enduring 44 years, filled with mutual respect and cherished memories. Billy enjoyed bowling and traveling with his wife for weekend getaways or extended periods of time.
He is survived by his loving sister, Deborah B. Daniels, and her husband, Jim. Bill cherished his role as an uncle to his nephews, Matt, Craig, and Chris Daniels, who brought immense joy to his life.
Billy will be inurned at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Alton, IL, in a private ceremony.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407.
